After-school programme à la carte

Competent and caring supervision of our students outside lessons is an integral part of our concept. We are happy to help you organise your family’s work, school and leisure activities efficiently.

Morning supervision

Children can arrive at school starting at 8 a.m. and play with their classmates or prepare for the day. Lessons commence at 8:30 a.m.

Lunch at Kindergarten and Primary School

A balanced and healthy meal is prepared by our cook every day for all children in our Kindergarten and Primary School who do not bring their own food from home. Lunch is served in summer outside in the courtyard and inside in winter. Playtime thereafter is always supervised.

Afternoon supervision

Spoilt for choice: experienced and motivated staff are responsible for our extensive range of afternoon activities. The different clubs (see box) are not only fun, but also promote social competence, empowerment, personal responsibility and creativity. Our clubs are freely accessible – the children can try them out and switch between clubs within the school year. Children can choose to take part depending on their strengths and they have an opportunity to experience success alone or as part of a team.

We are also happy to organise piano and guitar lessons at our school for your child.

Children are moreover free to use the school grounds to play or enjoy something creative in the afternoons: climbing frames, table tennis, chess and all sorts of crafting materials are available. We also have rabbits on our school premises in Kleinhüningen.

School bus

Our school bus generally runs inside the city of Basel. Flexible options are available for families interested in door-to-door transport. Please contact us!

Sport

The Academia Wolves demonstrate their athletic skills in various team sports during matches in our school or against other school teams, where they not only learn how to win and lose, but also get to know team spirit and fair play.

Camp

Grades 4 to 8 go on a ski camp every winter and an outdoor adventure week is organised for grades 3 and above in summer. These events take place during the school year.

Supervision during school holidays

We also offer attractive programmes for all age groups during many of the school holidays.

Our afternoon clubs:

Kindergarten:

  • Mini Cooking Club
We cook together and discover healthy eating, at times picking ingredients from our own vegetable garden.
  • Mini Adventure Club
Once a week, we visit a park, museum, theatre or other playing facilities in Basel.
  • Mini Swimming Club
On one afternoon a week, children learn basic skills with a qualified swimming teacher in our water awareness and safety lessons.

Primary School:

Students can choose from various clubs, e.g.

  • Homework Club
We complete homework together and work on individual weekly targets.
  • Sports Club
Students get to know a variety of team sports such as football, floorball, basketball etc.
  • Art Club
Children do creative work with many different types of materials: water colours, crayons, playdough or clay.
  • School Band
Students who can play an instrument or sing are welcome to join our School Band.
  • Adventure Club
Children do exciting things together: they master climbing walls, visit farms, make fire in the forest, build huts, visit the zoo or interesting exhibitions.
  • Cooking Club
Students learn how to cook together and find out about healthy eating.
  • Dance Club
Children learn various step combinations and choreographies. They can improve their sense of rhythm and mobility and express themselves to music.
  • Computer Club

Please note: Some clubs in kindergarten and primary school are together. Not all clubs are available every semester.

Secondary School:

In the afternoons, students attending Secondary School can either participate in the Primary School clubs on our premises in Kleinhüningen or the Academia International School clubs in the Steinentorstrasse, depending on their timetable.

The International School offers the following clubs for example:

  • ICT/Programming
  • STEAM Invention Lab (build robots and other mechanical devices)
  • Life Skills
  • Art
