WIDE Children’s Home Charity Appeal 💞
ABS Basel is delighted to share that its Christmas charity appeal raised CHF 1,493 in support of the WIDE Children’s Home in India.
Sincere thanks go to the ABS Basel families for their generosity, to the students for their beautiful artwork, and to Mrs Brändle, whose dedication and enthusiasm drove this initiative at the school.
Supporting children in need and contributing to their education is a meaningful part of the school’s community spirit.
Below is a message received from the Home’s Director, Kumari, which reflects the impact of this support:
“We sincerely thank Academia School for your continued support and for standing with us year after year, especially during the Christmas celebrations that bring such joy to our children. Winter is here ☃️❄️
Winter has arrived in Winterthur, bringing snow to ABS Winterthur at last. Snow slides, snowball fights, snowmen, and all kinds of creative snow figures filled the schoolyard this week. And it was so much fun!
Break times were anything but boring, with fresh snow covering the playground. The children returned to class with rosy cheeks after spending time outdoors, making the most of the winter weather.

Classroom performance “Under Power”⚡🎶
Students in Grades 5 and 6 at ABS Basel experienced a special classroom performance, played live by musicians from the Basel Chamber Orchestra as part of UBFIS.
Whether cycling, cooking, making music or relaxing on the sofa, energy is part of everyday life. In the performance “Under Power”, students explored playfully how energy is produced and how it can be used consciously and sustainably.
Using loop machines, they created spoken choirs and listened to the difference between electric and acoustic violins. Music became a space for learning, showing how energy can be used creatively and with awareness.
