At Academia Bilingual School, the focus is on the pupils. We teach in a lively and varied way, support each child individually and motivate them to realise their full potential – in Kindergarten as well as in primary and secondary school. Our teachers: teaching with fun

Teamwork is very important in our teaching team: the two class teachers work closely together with the subject teachers. The composition of our teaching team is diverse: the teachers come from Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, the UK, the USA, New Zealand, Ireland, Sweden and Finland. They are all united by their passion for teaching and the dedication with which they encourage and challenge their students.

Our pupils: talented and eager to learn

Our students have normal or above-average aptitude. They have good learning habits and strong social skills. This allows us to create a learning environment in which every child can flourish.
Our student body is diverse: about one third comes from Switzerland, one third from English-speaking countries and one third from other countries. In total, children from around 25 nations attend our school.
We get to know our pupils before they enter: Admission is based on an interview, student recommendation from the current school, past report card, an entrance assessment and trial days where possible.

Special school arrangements

New students can join our school at any time as long as there are free places.
If a pupil does not yet speak German or English, our booster lessons ensure the rapid acquisition of the second language.
Our timetable is supplemented by supervised homework time in primary school and study time in secondary school. These lessons are included in the school fees.
On the school island, our pupils receive individual support, whether this is because they need to make up for missed lessons, need special support or need a short break from class.

Talent Promotion

We support our students in their strengths. Therefore, we offer children with identified talent in sports, music and dance the opportunity to combine school and talent development:

  • Exemption from lessons to take part in training or competitions.
  • School island with individual/small group lessons to catch up on missed lessons
  • Specific support in the talent area in cooperation with Swiss Academy and our partners on the WIN4 site (e.g. strength and athletics training, practice facilities on our premises)
  • Exam-free transfer to the Swiss Academy’s sports, dance and music upper secondary school after Year 8 or 9 (subject to academic aptitude).

Interested? Please contact us for an individual consultation.

Further schooling options

After completing secondary school, our students can follow various paths:

  • Exam-free transfer to the English-language high school of the Academia International School or to the Sports, Dance and Music high school of the Swiss Academy Zurich in Winterthur.
  • After passing the entrance exam: Transfer to a public upper secondary school (Gymnasium, Fach-, Handels- or Informatikmittelschule)
  • Challenging vocational apprenticeship with or without vocational baccalaureate
