Our Secondary School: door opener to various educational pathways

Our bilingual Secondary School in Winterthur opens the doors to various educational pathways for your child: be it high school, another secondary school or an apprenticeship. We are able to focus on each student individually in an attentive learning environment characterised by mutual respect. We encourage students to broaden their horizons, acquire knowledge and advance their skills. In small classes we promote their strengths, self-confidence and eagerness to learn.

Our well qualified and highly motivated teachers make use of modern methods and didactics. A great deal of attention is paid to logical and mathematical thinking as well as problem-solving strategies. Sport, art and music are integral elements of our curriculum: they are essential for well-rounded individual development and help to create a strong sense of community.

Lessons are in English or German depending on the subject, while a good balance of the two core languages is maintained. German, English and French are taught by teachers in their corresponding native language. Apart from conveying language skills, the teachers also facilitate an insight into the associated culture.

Various further schooling options

Our teaching is based on Curriculum 21 (Lehrplan 21) and the Cambridge International Curriculum; this safeguards the option to continue at a state-run school or further education institution in Switzerland as well as abroad.

Those completing secondary school with us have an attractive choice of further schooling options:

  • Cantonal upper secondary schooling or vocational schooling (BMS). We prepare our secondary school students for the relevant entrance exam.

  • The English-language upper secondary school of Academia International School either in Winterthur or Zurich, which prepares its students for International A Levels. Entrance is available to our students without an entrance exam

  • Young people with a passion for music, sport or dance can move on to the Swiss Academy Zurich (locations in Winterthur and Zurich) without an examination and combine their passion with continuing secondary education.

  • Other private or public upper secondary schools

Secondary school in Basel

In Basel, our students transfer to the bilingual secondary school of Academia International School after year 6. The secondary school combines bilingual and project-based teaching in a unique way and prepares students for the English-language college as well as for secondary schools and vocational training in Switzerland or abroad.
