Our bilingual Secondary School opens the doors to various educational pathways for your child: be it an apprenticeship, high school or another secondary school. We are able to focus on each student individually in an attentive learning environment characterised by mutual respect. We encourage students to broaden their horizons, acquire knowledge and advance their skills. In small classes we promote their strengths, self-confidence and eagerness to learn.
Our well qualified and highly motivated teachers make use of modern methods and didactics. A great deal of attention is paid to logical and mathematical thinking as well as problem-solving strategies. Sport, art and music are integral elements of our curriculum: they are essential for well-rounded individual development and help to create a strong sense of community.
Lessons are in English or German depending on the subject, while a good balance of the two core languages is maintained. German, English and French are taught by teachers in their corresponding native language. Apart from conveying language skills, the teachers also facilitate an insight into the associated culture.
Our teaching is based on Curriculum 21 (Lehrplan 21) and the Cambridge International Curriculum; this safeguards the option to continue at a state-run school or further education institution in Switzerland as well as abroad. Transfer to our English-language college at Academia International School is also possible and highly popular.
Lessons as well as the after-school programme take place in the premises of the associated Academia International School in the centre of Basel.
Lessons at our Secondary School are generally from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
An after-school programme is available until 6 p.m. within the scope of our before- and after-school programme (subject to payment) for all children and youngsters wishing to stay longer.
